Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women, yet many people still see it as a man’s disease. Often overlooked, and under-treated, women face numerous obstacles in getting the care they need.

Her research and advocacy have given a strong voice to ensuring women with heart disease get the treatment they deserve, and she recently contributed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s 2018 report on women’s heart health; Ms. Understood.

During the interview, Tara highlights the challenges that women with heart disease face, how it is different in many ways from heart disease in men and what women can do to prevent heart disease.
